A gift that never runs out.
Help build a permanent endowment that keeps Jami Mosque & Islamic Centre open, warm and serving the community for generations.
The JMIC Waqf Fund in two minutes
The lights, the heating, the water and doors open for every prayer. Each year, around £200,000 is needed just to keep our Masjid running.
What if part of that was taken care of, permanently?
Think of it like planting a tree.
A Waqf is an Islamic endowment. What you give is never spent. It is kept safe forever, and only the income it earns is used for good causes, season after season.
The tree is kept
Your gift stays protected and is never spent.
Its fruit is shared
The income supports the Masjid every single year.
Rooted in the Sunnah
When Umar (ra) asked about land he had received at Khaybar, the Prophet ﷺ advised him:
“If you wish, keep the land itself and give away what it produces in charity.”Sahih al-Bukhari & Sahih Muslim
Waqf has been part of Muslim life ever since.
Your gift works forever.
Build the fund
Say we build a Waqf Fund of £500,000.
Invest it halal
The fund is invested in Shariah-compliant assets, for example two rental properties.
Use only the income
Around £30,000 a year in rent goes to the Masjid.
Cover the bills
That could cover around half of our utility bills, every year.
Three lasting purposes
Masjid maintenance
Utilities, repairs and upkeep of the building.
Education
Islamic learning for children, youth and adults.
Welfare
Support for those in need in our community.
Your Waqf is in safe hands
Separate fund
Held as a permanent endowment, kept apart from JMIC's day-to-day accounts.
Governed by policy
Managed by a dedicated Waqf Committee under the JMIC Waqf Fund Governance Policy, approved by the Council of Management.
Shariah-compliant
All investments and procedures follow Shariah principles, with no interest-based products.
Transparent
Progress and income reported publicly every year.
Documented
Every donor receives a receipt, an acknowledgement letter and a Waqf certificate.

Common questions
Can I get my Waqf donation back later?
No. A Waqf is a permanent dedication. Once accepted, the capital is held forever and only the income is used.
Is Waqf the same as Zakat?
No. Waqf is a voluntary endowment (Sadaqah Jariyah). Please give Zakat separately so it reaches eligible recipients.
Can I give anonymously?
Yes. Just let us know when you give.
Can I give in memory of a loved one?
Yes. You can dedicate your Waqf on behalf of a parent or family member, living or deceased.
How will I know how the fund is doing?
We publish an annual Waqf report showing the fund's value and how its income has been used.
Let us build this Waqf together.
Give online, or speak to us at the Masjid.
